Overview
Located in the heart of Las Vegas, Gäbi Coffee & Bakery is a boutique café designed around a large central glass greenhouse, where fresh baking takes place. The space features soaring ceilings, indoor trees, and antique Western furniture that harmonize with the subtle ambience inspired by the Joseon Dynasty. Visitors remove their shoes before stepping onto raised wooden platforms furnished with Korean mother-of-pearl tables, creating an atmosphere that bridges traditional Korean sensibility and Western vintage charm.
The café’s name, “Gäbi,” itself is derived from the Joseon-era pronunciation of “coffee.” The design celebrates this cultural connection through its warm, handcrafted environment—offering a serene retreat within the vibrant energy of Las Vegas.
Thanksgiving Season: Harvest Tales at Gäbi
The Thanksgiving theme, titled “Harvest Tales at Gäbi,” celebrated the autumn season through a rustic storytelling approach. The café was decorated with straw bundles, scarecrows, maple leaves, and handcarts, evoking the atmosphere of a traditional harvest.
To complement the seasonal menu—pumpkin pie and pumpkin spice lattes, the decorations emphasized cozy tones and natural textures. With a modest budget of around $3,000, the 250㎡ café was styled using large-scale faux props to maintain visual richness while preserving the café’s Joseon-inspired character. The design offered guests a warm, nostalgic space where seasonal flavors and atmosphere came together seamlessly.
Christmas Season: The Elf's Factory
For the Christmas season, the café was transformed into “The Elf’s Factory,” a whimsical space filled with playful details. Around 50 elf figurines and various gift boxes were placed throughout the interior, creating a storybook-like holiday mood.
The design was paired with the seasonal menu—gift-shaped whole cakes and the “Dirty Snowman” hot chocolate, ensuring visual and sensory harmony across the experience. With the same limited budget, large empty boxes and wrapping paper were creatively repurposed to enhance the scale. A giant wreath served as the focal point inside the central glass greenhouse, while cotton along the window frames mimicked freshly fallen snow. The café’s five-meter indoor trees were turned into natural Christmas trees, adorned with Santa and train figurines that brought out a warm, American-style festive charm.
